DS90UB921 maximum video resolution

In this page http://www.ti.com/interface/fpd-link-serdes/display-serdes/overview.html the DS90UB921 and DS90UB922 seem to support FULL HD resolution but the max pixel clock frequency is 96MHz.

Are these device capable to manage a resolution of 1920x1080 @50/60Hz. Can you confirm that the only devices that support 1920x1080 are 947,948 and 949 ???

I'm investigating on the possibility to use the FPD link III technology to connect devices in daisy chain mode up to 18/20 meter link... The source is an HDMI that need to be displayed on local TFT then the video signal is forwarded to another display via FPD link III then displayed locally and forwarded to another display and so on.

I need also to have a back channel (SPI, I2C, UART) to control/check the "remote" display.

The needed resoultion is 1920 x 1080 60Hz.

The local TFT panel have a LVDS interface (OpenLDI)

Is the FPD link III technology supports max cable length of 18/20 meters?
There is an IC that can serialize / deserialize a 1920 x 1080 60Hz with RGB 24 bit input/output?

For 1920 x 1080 resolution and parallel RGB support you can use the DS90UB921 and DS90UB922 devices. The DS90UB947 and DS90UB948 are for open-LDI and they support the same resolution.

You can refer to the link you mentioned for FPD-Link portfolio overview and also the device datasheets for information specific to the various devices and the cable reach.

To extend the support to longer cable lengths beyond what FPD-Link III devices can natively support, you can refer to these app notes:

The DS90UB921 and DS90UB922 support a maximum clock of 96MHz.... 1920x1080 @50Hz resolution need an higher clock...

This application notes refer to FPD-Link II that have a LVDS electrical interface. I need to use FPD-Link III that have CML interface. There's an application notes for FPD-Link III ???

Hello Giuseppe,

the 921 / 922 support 1920x1080 at lower frame rate (max. 45fps). If you want higher frame rate then you need to use the 947, 948, 948, 940
