DS90UB949-Q1: There are some questions about DS90UB949-Q1 and DS90UB929-Q1

Hi  all

      I have some questions about DS90UB949 and DS90UB929,please help me check them. Thanks a lot.

      1. Can the DS90UB929-Q1 support 1920*720 resolution LCD screen? If support, which deserializer can be used?

      2. When use DS90UB949-Q1 and DS90UB948-Q1 to support 1920*720 resolution LCD screen, can we connect only one cable? or must connect two cables?

     3. When use DS90UB949-Q1 and DS90UB948-Q1 to support 1920*1080 resolution LCD screen, can I take the two coaxials which used common shielding? Because the coaxials can be make more easy.

     4. Based on the 3rd question, the coaxial can pass the 12V/1A power? Is there any reference design circuit?

     5. Please recommend reference design about FPD-LINK III,the CPU have two 24bit RGB interfaces and one HDMI interface :

       (1) support 1920*720 resolution LCD screen.

       (2) support 1920*1080 resolution LCD screen.

    --> Yes. you can select UB940/940 for such application.

    2. When use DS90UB949-Q1 and DS90UB948-Q1 to support 1920*720 resolution LCD screen, can we connect only one cable? or must connect two cables?
    --> yes, it can. but the dual lane would make your system design more easily.

    3. When use DS90UB949-Q1 and DS90UB948-Q1 to support 1920*1080 resolution LCD screen, can I take the two coaxials which used common shielding? Because the coaxials can be make more easy.
    -> yes. coax cable is claimed in d/s. what is the coax cable type? and what is the length?

    4. Based on the 3rd question, the coaxial can pass the 12V/1A power? Is there any reference design circuit?
    --> coax cable is used to deliver current? if yes, it is called as PoC. you can refer to www.ti.com/fpdllink on on-line training, it includes how to design PoC.

    5. Please recommend reference design about FPD-LINK III,the CPU have two 24bit RGB interfaces and one HDMI interface :

    (1) support 1920*720 resolution LCD screen.
    --> UB929 + UB948

    (2) support 1920*1080 resolution LCD screen.
    --> UB949 + UB948

                 --> Yes. you can select UB940/940 for such application

                 Went:   Is 1920*720p@60Hz  or 1920*720p@30Hz?

            6. The deserializer DS90UB948-Q1 can be set register from the DS90UB949-Q1 host MCU's I2C interface? I want to check the DS90UB948-Q1 is need another small MCU's I2C  to set  register.

            7. If the host MCU can set deserializer's register from DS90UB949-Q1's I2C interface, How to set?

  • 1. the PCLK of UB929 is 96Mhz (max) which allows 1920x720@60fps.
    2. ? If my understanding is correct, you can access deser from ser side.
    3. pls visit my.ti.com on fpdlink i2c setting app. note, also you can read the remote i2c application in UB929 or UB949 d/s.

    you can refer to UB913a's I2C link, which has same operation theory as UB929. also you can check the d/s of UB929 for it.
