For the UB928, UB926, and UH948, are the AC coupling caps required for proper operation including the backchannel?

If they are not not required, is there any potential impact to performance?

The AC coupling capacitors are required for proper operation of the FPD-Link devices. Consult the device datasheets for the specific capacitor values.

Thank you for the note. Just to clarify, if the AC coupling caps are not present, does that mean that the display will not work at all or that it will work but with issues?

The system/link has been validated with the specified AC coupling values, so without it the performance or functionality cannot be guaranteed.
