My customer is considering DP83822I and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

Is there any application consideration when using with POE.

When I used Microchip, they need to add an external ESD diode on Tx and Rx.

( Could you please see attached file.)

I'd like to confirm, regading DP83822, is it necessary or not.

Hello Shinichi-san,

1. Need for ESD level is derived by the Application needs. DP83822 provides certain inbuild ESD protection, if applications needs are more, you have add external ESD to meet applications requirements.

2. For POE designs, I suggest you go thru link available on ti.com site. Their are few TI Designs also available on the topic.

I understand DP83822I has a ESD protection inside, but if it is not enough, need an external ESD protection.
Actually, +/-16kV HBM is pretty good, It's depend on the application.
