Ethernet Interface Solutiuon for 100BASE-TX

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83867E

I recently bought two DP83867E SGMII EVM kits.

Without changing anything on the board, I connected the boards back-to-back and successfully established a 1000Mbps Ethernet connection between two PCs. The PCs can ping each other and there is nothing wrong with the functionality.

In the User Manual document, it is mentioned that the default VDDIO voltage is 2.5V. Therefore, I should be able to measure at least 1.4 Vp.p coming out of either SO_P or SO_N.

However, when I connect the single-ended output of the board to a 50 Ohm oscilloscope while the other is terminated, the peak-to-peak voltage is only 200 mVp.p. I wonder if I am doing anything wrong or there is another factor I am missing.

Just to let you know, when performing this measurement, all other connectors are terminated with 50 Ohms load.

Cheers.
