BQ24392: about Vbus Recommended Operating Conditions

Part Number: BQ24392

Hi,

Could you  reflect the test condition voltage(4.5V~5.5V) to the recommended operating voltage in datasheet.
Customer thinks that the recommended operation Vbus voltage and test condition should be the same value.

For example,
FSA832 matches the Vbus recommended operating voltage and the test condition voltage.

  • Yusuke,

The recommended vVbus range is based on the USB 2.0 spec. The test condition was used to cover the boundaries of this range. Can you describe the customer application, is the customer trying to use Vbus as Vcc (direct device power) instead of traditional Vbus from USB connector?

  • Malik-san,

    Thanks for your support.

Would you take a consideration about changing Vbus recommend

    voltage from (4.75V to 5.25V) to (4.5V to 5.5V)?

Because  customer is worrying if the Vbus supply voltage was 4.75V case,

BQ24392 input voltage will violate the recommend specification because there is voltage drop

on the cable even small one.

But 4.75V Vbus out is in spec for former device.

In addition to this, competitor’s pin compatible device supports from 4 to 6V,

Customer is going to change device from onther device (”FSA832”).

  • Yusuke,

We cannot change the recommended Vbus range for this device. Electrically BQ24392 is guaranteed from 4.5 and 5.5 V  however the functional characteristics are not. If Vbus is dropping below 4.75V this is outside USB 2.0 Spec and should be inside the 4.75 to 5.25 V range. I recommend getting Vbus into this range.
