DS90C363: LVDS Measurements

Part Number: DS90C363

Hello,
I need an oscilloscope probe to measure LVDS signals
1-) What features should I look for?
2-) Are there any probes that you recommend?

Thank you.

  • Hello,
The most important features when selecting a probe for measurement are the bandwidth and rise time to make sure they are adequate (along with the oscilloscope performance) for the signal you're trying to measure. Typically this would need to be 3 to 5 times faster than the fastest rise time of the signal you are going to measure (depending on the accuracy desired, let's say 5 times would give you less distortion and more accurate measurements compared to 3 times). Also keep your ground leads on the probe as short and direct as possible to avoid ringing.

There are articles and resources available on the web from the test and measurement vendors such as Tektronix and Lecroy that you might find useful.
