Hello everyone,

I wonder is it possible to transmit SPI over 20 (or more) meters using (M-)LVDS.

Currently I use only two lines of SPI - data and clock.

Using differental chipset I need four lines - data+, data-, clock+, clock-. It would be fantastic if TI chipset support also multidrop.

If it's possible,could you please recommend me any TI product?

One question: is the data going in both directions or is from master to slave only?

Only one direction - from master to slave (multidrop).

Hi Barney,

It is possible to transmit SPI using M-LVDS over 20 meters.

I would recommend SN65MLVD047A and SN65MLVD048 quad channel M-LVDS driver and receiver. They support multidrop topology.

You could use two of the four channels available for the two SPI data line, and have two free channels for other data.
