PCA9534: max Tjunction and maximum power dissipation

Part Number: PCA9534
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9534,

Hello Team,

The PCA9534PWR is rated up to 85degC ambient temperature and maximum storage of up to 150degC.

Can you share maximum junction temperature and maximum power dissipation of the part.

My customer wants to be able to judge whether the device can be used in his application.

Thanks

Kathrina

  • Hello Kathrina,

I would like to suggest the TCA family for the 9534 (TCA9534) as this fixes some of the earlier known problems with the PCA9534. The TCA line up is typically more price competitive, 5V tolerant, and pin to pin with the PCA family.

"Can you share maximum junction temperature and maximum power dissipation of the part."
The maximum power dissipation can be estimated by by taking the absolute maximum Vcc and Icc values. My estimation put this to 1.5W IN WORST CASE conditions.

Maximum junction temperature is a bit tricker.... Typically I say the max junction temperature should be close to the max storage temperature but to be sure, 125C would be a safer number to provide the customer.

    Thanks,
    -Bobby
  • Hello,

can you supply a value for the thermal inpedance JUNCTION to CASE, please.

    We use the PW package.

    Thank you,
    Harald
  • Hey Harald,

I should be able to do that, this will require me to put in a request for a thermal modeling simulation. Depending on how many other requests there are in the queue, this could take up to two weeks (typically get feedback within 3 days though).

I will update you when I hear back on the results of the thermal request.

    Thanks,
    -Bobby
  • Hey Harold,

I got the thermal results back:
