Smart meters- Electricity (S0), Water and Gas meters Pulse Output interfacing with microcontroller

Hello Team,

I have the pulse output coming from the utility meters such as water meter, gas meter and S0 from Electricity meter.

I would like to interface the pulse output with a radio module which has in built micro controller.

Can you please suggest us the interfacing ICs from the utility meters to the microcontroller?

The challenge here is that the pulse output will vary from 0 to 30V as per S0 specification and there are no specific details on Water and gas meter pulse output.

Appreciate your help!!

Regards, Ramarao

  • Hello Ramarao,
Thank you for joining TI's E2E Forum.
Do you need to isolate the signal from the meter to the MCU?
  • Hello Ramarao,

If your pulse output ranges from 0 to 30V, you'll need to figure out how to convert that down to the logic-level voltages for our microcontrollers. You mentioned "smart" and "radio modules" in your post. We offer several different devices with various wireless connectivity whether that's WiFi, ZigBee, 6LoPan, BLE, or Sub-1 GHz. Recently, we released our SimpleLink SDK that enables easy wireless development on our devices.

Here are some links that you may find helpful in your development.

    Regards,

    James
