Hi team,

The customer would like to verify if the jitter range of his input signal can meet DS25BR204.

His parameters of his input signal are as below:

The input signal is LVDS signal.

Jitter is 400ps～450ps.

The input rate is 1.58Gbps.

Can the customer's jitter range of his input signal can meet DS25BR204? He cannot find the jitter range of the input signal in the DS25BR204 datasheet.

Hi Mickey,

DS25BR204 attenuates or cleans up jitter due to the transmission media like pcb trace or cable. Can you please provide us with a block diagram of how your customer is measuring 400-500ps of jitter? You mentioned input signal has 400-500ps of jitter. Is this the amount of jitter after transmission media like pcb trace or a cable? Please send us a block diagram and we would be able to comment further. Also, for your customer transmission media, please ask for frequency response. This would help us to know the loss characteristics and would be able to say if DS25BR204 can handle this.

What is the input jitter coming from? Is this dispersion in an optical module?
