TCA9543A: TCA9543A & RESET pin

Hi Team,

This is my first question at I2C forum.

I want to use TCA9543A (2-Channel I2C Bus Switch) in my new design. I am wondering if is mandatory connect RESET pin to MCU in the real applications. I will be glad for any comment.

Yes I know reason of RESET pin from datasheet. For "unlock" I2C slaves from bus fault state I generate a few pulses at SCL line. Could this "tick" work with TCA9543A, or I need to use RESET pin? I am han't enough of GPIOs on my MCU and I will be happy if I will don't need connect RESET pin.

Thank you for an answer

  • Hello Jan,

Use of the /RESET pin is not mandatory, and if not needed it can simply be pulled high in an application. You are right that providing additional SCL clock ticks can often resolve a stuck I2C bus. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

  • Hi Max,

Thanks. Yes, I understand. I just wondering about experiences in real applications with TCA9543A. We can close this topic for this moment.
