TPS65987D: USB type-C Displayport + USB 3.0, and Displayport++ (HDMI) mode.

Part Number: TPS65987D

Hey Team,

I had a couple questions regarding what sort of signals can be passed over USB type-C cables regarding USB 3.0, DisplayPort, and Displayport++.

1. My understanding is you can have dedicated USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 signals since the USB 3.0 signals pass over the TX/RX lines - can you have 2 separate USB 3.0 signals passed over a single type-C cable? (such that you do not need a hub on the receive end?)

2. Can you do the same with DisplayPort + 2x USB 3.0 - my understanding is that you can do DisplayPort + 1 USB 3.0 signal.

3. What type-C line does DisplayPort++ run over, does DP++ work over type-C at all? (I was thinking this might run over the SBU lines, but it was not clear)

Thank you for your help!!

best regards,

Saqib Mohammad
