TUSB215: the solution for USB 2.0 5m/10m/20m cable

Hello

My customer want to develop USB 2.0 cable,  and the length is 5m/10m/20m.

can we use TUSB215 to enhance the USB 2.0 signal for 5m, 10m, or 20m cable ?

How long of the cable does 1 piece of TUSB215 support?

If cable length is 5m, 10m, or 20m,  how many TUSB215 we must put on the cable?

    Jesse,

    TUSB215 can support 5m pre-channel or 2m post channel cable length. Please see this e2e post for difference between pre and post channel: e2e.ti.com/.../695261.

    TUSB215 can be used to enhance USB cables and multiple can be used in one cable. The number of pieces need for each cable length depends on quality of the cable used. One consideration when using multiple TUSB215 is the possibility of adding too much DC gain resulting in high speed disconnect issues. Also consider that all TUSB215 in one cable may not have the same settings and will need to be tuned for each length.

    Jesse,

    I would follow the USB 2.0 spec when designing cables for USB 2.0, Section 6.5 - 6.7 gives cable and connector requirements.
