AM26C32: Cold Sparing of AM26C32

Part Number: AM26C32

I have AM26C32 in my board. The doubt is whether the device has cold sparing capability, i.e. whether the inputs can be present when the device is powered OFF.

  • Hi Nivin,

It's ok to apply an input signal to the A or B inputs when the device is unpowered - they will be high impedance and sink minimal leakage currents. I would recommend against providing a G input, since this may result in some back-biasing of current into the VCC supply.

  • Sir,
Could you please explain the second part of your answer. I have permanently connected G input to +5V and G\ to GND. G input will come along with VCC.

  • Nivin,

That sounds OK. What I meant was that a voltage should not be applied to G if VCC is not powered. Tying G to VCC would be no problem.
