Please see the questions below. Thanks in advance.

Diagnostics:

  • Can voltage (via GPIO0 and 1) and temperature monitoring be performed simultaneously?
  • Is it possible to do forward channel diagnostics while streaming? I guess this is done by CRC check?
  • Can open or shorted cable be detected with UB953 and UB954 combination?
  • Bit-error rate measurement: Can this be performed inside the chip? Or would we need to attach an oscilloscope to measure it?

    Hello Joern,

    - Yes, temp and voltage sensing can be performed at the same time.
    - Yes, diagnostics is running during normal operation such as SER-DES CRC check, CSI-2 Input check, CSI-2 CRC, and Parity errors check.
    - Yes, Link error (fault) detection is running always during normal operation, but it can't differentiate if the fault open or short circuit.
    - The 954/ 960 has a 16 bit error-counter but it can't calculate the bit-error-rate.
