DP83848I: DP83848I center Tap was left float

Hi Team,

My customer has a special application, in this application. The center Tap was left floated, not connected to VDD. Showed as below:

Even the center Tap was left floated, by doing the test, it seems the communication still be ok and till now we didn't find any issue. So customer want to know, if this center Tap was left float, does it have any issue or risk? Will this be ok? Hopefully we can get some helpful explaination for customer, thanks for your support!

Hi Sulyn,

How about the center of external termination 49.9 ohm connection to Vdd ? Is that connected or left floating as well ?

Hi Geet,

Thanks for your support! The external 49.9ohm was connect to VDD, this is no problem.

But the center Tap of the transform was floated. (In fact, you can see it connected to VDD through the same 49.9ohm resisitor).

So is these any problem for this? Thanks for this

Hi Sulyn,

The DP83822 is characterised and tested with Center tap connected to Vdd. It's tough to comment on this case.
