TPS65986: Object Position value in Alternate Mode Entry Sequence register

Part Number: TPS65986

I have a question about the Alternate Mode Entry Sequence register.

I think there is some incorrect labeling of fields in the App Customization Tool...   In register 0x38, there is an 8-bit field called "Mode Number", which I originally confused to be the same as "Mode Value" in the Alternate Mode Configuration register.  However, I believe the TRM labels this as "Object Position", or "Mode Position".

What exactly is the purpose and function of this 8-bit "Object Position" field?    It is currently set to 0xff, and things seem to be working, but I assume that is because I'm testing against things with only 1 alternate mode at the moment.

  • Hi Eric,

By default, the "Mode Number" for Alternate Mode Entry Queue Record #1 is set to 0x1. This "Mode Number" Value should let you select which mode of the alternate mode you enter. If you are only using 1 alternate mode, there is no need to put anything in this register. You could just put all 0's and see the same behavior.

If this answers your question, PLEASE select This resolved my issue

    Thank you,

    Eric
