PCA9515A: PCA9515A running with two different frequency

Part Number: PCA9515A

My customer wishes to use PCA9515A for their design, and they are confused about this statement. Could you please explain how to achieve master run at 400KHz and slave at 100KHz with isolation? Can you please provide any reference circuit?

Thank you.

  • Hello Wei-Hao,

The devices that are communicating on a bus need to operate at the same frequency. The example in the datasheet is just saying that if there are some devices that cannot operate at higher frequencies they could be grouped together, and then if they were "isolated" (meaning the signal path to them were made high impedance, effectively disconnecting those slower slaves) the remaining higher-speed nodes would be able to communicate with one another.

I hope this makes sense; please let me know if you have questions.

Thank you for your reply. It is clear now.

    Many thanks.
