Hello,

My customer is seeing interesting issues around the TUSB211 in their design. There are two products (a host and a dock) which are connected to one-another through a Type-C cable.

With the re-driver in place, they are seeing CRC issues but when it is removed, there are no more CRC issues.

In addition, the problem goes away with EQ set to 3. Strange, right?

It sounds like when TUSB211 is between the host and dock, the TUSB211 initially is not configured correctly to compensate the insertion loss between the host and TUSB211. But when EQ is set to 3, then the insertion loss is properly compensated.

What are the setting of TUSB211? There may be a issue of too high DC /AC boost for the system.

Can you clarify what settings you are looking for?

Here is the setup:

HOST -> 13inch trace -> TUSB211 -> 3inch trace -> customer connector -> 46.5cm cable -> female output connector -> 1.8m cable -> Dock connector -> 0.65inch trace -> TUSB211 -> 6inch trace -> Dock USB HUB.

Can you also clarify the "pre-channel" and "post-channel" from the table below? Just want to confirm that it means before/after the re-driver.

Ishaan,

See image below for representation of pre and post channel. The Host and connector boxes are just examples and can also represent the next transmitter and receiver, respectively. Also I am looking for AC and DC boost settings of each TUSB211.
