TPS65982: Data transmitting path

Part Number: TPS65982
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB564

Hi experts,

When a device connects to type-C port, CC1 and CC2 can distinguish the cable orientation. How could we know that  Tx1+,Tx1-,Rx1+Rx1- or  Tx2+,Tx2-,Rx2+Rx2- are transmitting data? Cause we trying to measure the signal but no idea which pins to check.

Thanks

Oliver

  • Hi Oliver,

In the CC messaging, the PD controller will determine if TX/RX are being used as the two devices will discuss their capabilities. The TPS65982 can then control an external super-speed mux such as the TUSB564 through GPIOs. You can read back this information on the TPS65982 in the Data Status register.
