DS90UB929-Q1: cable shield effectiveness or coupling attenuation

Part Number: DS90UB929-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB928Q, DS90UH925Q

Hello,

We're using FPDLink-III DS90UB929 - DS90UB928Q serializer-deserializer.

What are the requirements on the shield effectiveness and/or coupling attenuation of the cable and connector for automotive application ?

What is the corresponding test method ?

It is not stated in the document obtained under NDA “FPD‐Link III: DS90UH925Q & DS90UH926Q Cable Characteristic Requirements v0.3”.

  • Hello,
We provide a separate document for the transmission channel test procedure which covers the different parameters of interest for the cable+connector assembly such as insertion loss, return loss, impedance (also skew and crosstalk for differential cables) and how to measure them. There is a separate FPD-Link III parameters document for the 92X chipsets which covers the FPD-Link parameters at various test points of the system and the channel insertion loss. These are NDA documents so please contact your local FAE to obtain them offline.

The shielding effectiveness is dependent on the braid's density and the connector's contact ground impedance. You can contact the cable suppliers on shielding effectiveness.
