DS100KR800: Redriver Setting

Part Number: DS100KR800

Dear sir,

We are using DS100KR800, and we have two questions.

1. We don't know what is the difference between 10G mode and 10G-KR mode (pin21)??

Would you please help to explain it.

2. Now we see the output eye-diagram having so much jitter.

Do you have any suggestion?? What can we do to fine tune EQ/DE/VOD??

Thank you very much.

  • Hi,

#1.  10G mode uses an output driver which includes a limiting amplifier.  So the output amplitude will always be equal to the VOD setting even if the input amplitude is smaller or larger.

10G-KR mode uses a linear output driver - the voltage gain is much closer to 1:1.  So the output amplitude will be proportional to the input voltage.

#2.  The default EQ setting is quite high.  I would recommend to start with minimum EQ and DE = 0.  Then slowly increase the EQ value to help achieve a good eye opening on the KR800 output.

After the EQ has been tuned, you can try to increase the DE setting to -1.5 or -3.5dB to further assist the connected downstream receiver.  For most applications I recommend to keep DE at or less than -3.5dB.

    Regards,
