TUSB3410: EEPROM Burner use

Part Number: TUSB3410

I thought I was out of the woods with the TUS3410 EEPROM Burner, but I cannot get past a particular step. I am using a Windows 10 machine, and have tried this on a Windows 7 machine. I have installed the software and driver provided on the TUSB3410 web page served up by TI. This includes the driver [sllc428a.zip] and EEPROM Burner [sllc443b.zip]. After rebooting pc, I connect up my design [which has a blank 128K PROM and TUSB3410]. The users guide indicates the TUSB3410 should enumerate as a HID device. On my PC it enumerates as a Serial Port.

My first question. Should I not have installed the driver "TI_WDF_USBUART_SINGLE_DRIVER_V6.7.2.0_WHQL.exe"? Is this why it enumerates as a serial port.

How do I get it to register as a HID device?

  • Jim,

Windows will automatically load the UART driver for COM port if it is installed. You must open the device manager, select the TUSB3410 serial port device and right-click to "Update driver software...". Switch the driver to the TUSB3410_EEPROM Burner driver. If you cannot see this in the list of available drivers, you can browse to it manually. It should be at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments Inc\TUSB3x10 EEPROM Burner\Aploader"

    Regards,
    Brian
  • Precisely, It loads the UART driver for the COM port, but the EEPROM PROM Burner software is expecting it to enumerate as a HID device. On Page 5, Figure 4 of the manual [SLLU205-June 2014 Users Guide TUSB3x10 EEPROM Burner] It shows the Device Manager which has it enumerated as a HID Device. This IS REQUIRED to be able to use the software to program the Serial PROM.

If the UART driver is installed, this has it  enumerate as a COM port instead and the EEPROM Burner software DOES NOT WORK.

I need to be able to use the EEPROM Burner Software to program the serial prom so I want to remove the UART driver. I have tried to uninstall removing source, but that did not work. The only way I have been successful in getting this to work is to find a fresh machine and install only the Burner Software. I need to be able to use it on the original machine so how do I get it to enumerate back as a HID device?

  • Jim,

Following the steps that Brian Quach and updating the driver software, should remove the UART driver and cause the device to enumerate as a HID device. Is this not what you saw after following these steps?
  • Jim,

Is there anymore support needed for the issue you are having? If so please reply with any updates so that we may assist you further.
