I would like to know the reason why you put autonomous mode to this IC. Is it decided by IEEE or other standards? What are merits to use autonomous operation?

Hi RYO,

Autonomous mode is useful if you want the PHY to be able to link to a partner with no MDIO/MDC access.
Managed mode give you more control of the PHY by not allowing it to send IDLEs to a partner until you allow it though by register access.

There is no standard for autonomous/managed modes.
