DS80PCI402: Is this solution good for PCIe GEN3 *4 ?

Part Number: DS80PCI402
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS80PCI810, , DS125BR401A

Hello Sirs,

May I have your comment this a good choice for PCIE GEN3 *4 signal conditioner ?

Is this Input EQ linear or limit mode ?

Will output DE will impact PCIe link training ?

Many thanks a lot !

  • Hi Terry,

The DS80PCI402 is designed to have linear CTLE and output driver characteristics.  Overall the datapath does allow analog link training information to pass through from input to output.  This does allow link training to work through the device in most cases.  If the device is placed too close to a PCIe transmiter there will be some distortion of the signal which will make the link training outcome difficult to predict.  For cases where the PCIe transmitter is within 8 dB of the repeater, I would recommend using one of our newer devices like the DS80PCI810 which can handle the large amplitude signal without distortion.

  • Hello Lee,

    Thanks your feedback !

    Due to I need PCIe x4 ( 4 Tx + 4 Rx )

Is there any other solution like DS80PCI402 different direction .

Looks like DS80PCI810 is unidirection and good for pure Tx or pure Rx .

    Many thanks !

  • There are two choices for PCIe3 x4 lane solution. I would recommend to use DS125BR401A and use the A-side inputs to connect with the closest PCIe system Tx. The A-side channels offer better linearity for this type of redriver placement.
