TPS65981: Can TPS6981 configure through I2C interface, not an external SPI flash memory for application code?

Part Number: TPS65981

Dear Sir/Madam

From datasheet of TPS65981, it is need an external SPI flash memory for application code. And its I2C inerface can be used to update the Firmware.

If there is a processor (ARM) on the board, which can control TPS65981 through I2C interface. Does TPS65981 can be configured by the processor through I2C interface?

If the answer is "yes", the external SPI flash can be not needed on our board. This will save cost of the BOM.

Please advise me whether this way is possible (program TPS65981 through I2C interface) or not.

Thanks in advance!
