TLK100 IEEE1588 Time Stamping

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLK100

I notice in August 2009 on the A revision of the datasheet we added

bullet item " Enables IEEE1588 Time-Stamping", page 1

I had a question from an engineer today looking for a little more clarification on this item. Does our PHY actually provide a IEEE1588 time stamp on outgoing packets? If so, how is this accomplished?

  • Hello,

TLK100 has deterministic low latency delay (270nS) and because it is fixed the time stamping is possible.

The TLK100 don’t have the additional logic and the pins to support the IEEE158, however most of the customers prefer to do it inside the MAC.
