TUSB322I: DIR Pin not working in GPIO Mode

I want to use the TUSB322I just to detect the direction of the cable but the DIR signal is not changing. If I measure the CC1/2 lines i get a 12.8Hz signal if no cable is connected and 4.8V on one CC line and 0,4V on the other CC line if a cable is connected. This changes if the cable is turned to the other side.

VBUS has a 909k resistor to the 5V USB supply, ADDR Pin is NC, EN_N is directly connected to ground. All other Pins have pull-up resistors. I2C is not connected.

Why doesn't the DIR Pin change? ID Pin doesn't work either.

Is this in an UFP, DFP or DRP application?

It is a DFP only port

10k connected to 3V3,

ID and OUT3 have 200k connected to 5V.

Can you give me a schematic so that I can better understand the devices implementation? what are the DIR and ID pins voltages when a device is not plugged in and when a device is plugged in. please also include the voltages when the orientation of the device is flipped as well.

I know that the ADDR Pin should be NC so I cut the line on my PCB. I've also changed the resistor values of R106 and R107 to 200k.

The 10k pull-up of the DIR Signal is located on a other page.

CC1/CC2 are 12.8Hz without cable and with connected cable one line is 4.8V the other 0.4V. This changes as expected when the cable is flipped.

VBUS_DET ist 0.48V

DIR stays at 3.3V, OUT3 and ID stay at 5V no matter if there is a cable connected or not

OUT1 and OUT2 are NC because R175 and R176 are not placed

The DIR pin is connected to a TUSB1046 Flip input, 10k pull up is located on an other schematic sheet

Could you provide scope captures of CC1, CC2, ID, DIR and VBUS_DET for when the device is being plugged in?

Pink CH3: VBUS_DET

Dark Blue CH4: CC1

Light Blue CG2: CC2

Yellow CH1: ID

I only have a 4 channel oscilloscope, but DIR is not changing like ID

Martin,

VBUS should be controlled by the ID pin. Per Type-C spec, VBUS must be low until the CC pin toggling stops and a 100-200ms debounce time has elapsed. Your trace shows that VBUS is present the entire time.
