Hello,

Do we have a pin selectable auto-negociation setting Ether PHY? I think DP83848 is register selectable but when reset applied, it initialize auto-negociation mode. The customer is inconvenient auto-negociation feature.

Hello Toshihiro,

Does the customer want to turn off auto-negotiation using strap resistors on the PHY? If yes, DP83848I does support this feature. In section 4.9 strap options, it is explained how pin 26,27,28 can be used to control autonegotiation on the PHY.

Thank you for your answer. I think DP83848K can't force mode but DP83848I can because force mode support. Is my understanding correct?

Hello Watanabe-san,

DP83848K can also be forced to 100Mbps mode but it has to be done via register setting only. DP83848I can be forced to 100Mbps mode via registers and bootstrap resistors. Please note that when speed is forced for DP83848, it is also required to force MDI or MDIX.
