Hello,

Can TVSxx00 use for ethernet protection? If yes, what part is a good fit?

The customer asks if TVSxx00 can protect from burst noise guessing like IEC61000-4-4 noise. If TVSxx00 can protect against burst noise and error rate is improved under noise is existing, the customer is interesting in this.

Hello,
The TVSxx00 devices are all rated to 80A EFT. However, we recommend using ESDS314 for Ethernet applications as it has 4 channels of protection and 25A of surge protection along with 80A EFT and 30kV ESD.

Hello Cameron-san,
Thank you for ESDS314 recommendation. Do you think error rate is improved when EFT applying if ESDS314 used?

Hello,
EFT is a bunch of short high current pulses that will be clamped by the ESD diode that you put on there. While the diode is clamping The voltage will be high which I assume will cause an error bit.
