1. Customer use TI PHY DP83TC811 and Qualcomm 4G process, the mode is SGMII, during the test they find have DECODE_CODE_ERR from PHY MAC layer when connect TI PHY DP83TC811. look into error code is 8B10 decode error. swap competitor PHY, don't have similar error.

2. When doing the the point to point test, how can we send a packet of data to this PHY without assigning the IP address? we need it to wake up the PHY.

Hi Maka,

The DP83TC811R-Q1 does not support SGMII. It is RGMII only. Can you confirm if customer is testing DP83TC811S-Q1? If yes, would it be possible to share the schematics. Please also check if customer is implementing any register settings.

For the 2nd question, IP address is not required to send data from MAC to the PHY. MAC can send data to the PHY directly. Can you share more information about the wake-up feature that customer wants to implement?

1.the PN is DP83TC811S-Q1, they use our EVM test.
2.Do you have PC software tool can do this test?

Hi Maka,

We do not have PC software to generate SGMII pattern. We only have USB2MDIO software which allows user to read and write registers on TI PHYs. There are free software available from 3rd parties that can create ethernet software on PC Ethernet Port. But you will need to convert standard ethernet traffic from your PC to SGMII.

Customer use DP83TC811S-Q1, the schematics is follow our EVM design, just now only in SGMII mode, find this error code, but change use competitor PHY IC, don't have this error. please help to check it the reason, or where to check? thanks!

Can you share schematics and register settings? Please send the register settings for register 0x00, 0x01, 0x09, 0x017, 0x133, 0x197, 0x198, 0x432, 0x456, 0x459, and 0x467.
Which link partner is used for this communication and what is the cable length?
