Hi dear supporting team,

could DP159 support HDMI ---HDMI retimer? (I remember BU once mentioned for HDMI input, it could only support AC coupling).

then if so, what's the main difference of 159 with TMDS181?

if DP159 SINK connect with HDMI connector, could I2C , HPD connected directly with DP159 ? tks!

Hello,

The DP159 is an dual-mode DisplayPort or AC-coupled TMDS-to-HDMI 2.0 retimer. The TMDS181 is a HMDI 2.0 retimer.

hi Michael,

as for the last question, sorry that I did not express clear enough, customer want to know in sink side, could they connect I2C, HPD signal directly to the HDMI connector without protecting? currently they only add one voltage sensitive resistor which could discharge the voltage. but they are not sure whether it is enough for EMC and surge test. tks!

I recommend adding TVS diodes to the DDC lines and the HPD lines to protect your system. you do not need to worry about EMI on the DDC and HPD lines.
