TPS65987D: over 60W source

Part Number: TPS65987D

Hi

I'd like to make PDP = 80W source device.

I set 5V3A, 9V3A, 15V3A and 20V4A in 0x32 Transmit Source Capabilities by Application Customization Tool Ver3.16.

But in PD negotiation, our device send 20V3A in Source_Capabilities message.

Once I set 20V2.5A by App Tool, then our device send 20V2.5A in Source_Capabilities message.

Once I set 20V5A by App Tool, then our device send 20V3A in Source_Capabilities message.

As above, I can set correctly when PDP is under 60W, but when I set greater than 60W, the Source_Capabilities become always 60W.

Is there any setting to support over 60W source?

  • Hi Anderson,

The type-c cable that you use must be able to support 4A of current as well. Most type-c cables only support 3A of current. When the TPS65987D sees that the cable only supports 3A, it will not send Source Capabilities higher than what the cable supports.
