Hi,

we are developing 100W USB PD car charger, particularly for charging Macbook pro and other PD laptops.

we have seen the TI development board(TPS6592-EVM). (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7UbeOv-ef4

But, didn't understand what input you guys are recommoneded in the video( time:1:08 ).

It would be grateful if you could help us by providing T.I best solution.

Hi Devansh,

The power supply used is a standard Dell Barrel Jack adapter. The output voltage is ~20V so you could supply it through a bench supply if desired.

Just clear my few more doughts:-

1) What input should I supposed to provide to this car charger IC??

2) IS TPS65982 design is good to go for 100W PD car charger??

Hi Devansh,

The TPS65982 is not a charger IC, it is a PD controller. For the charger IC, please ask the charger team which part would be best to use. TPS65982 is not auto-qualified package.
