PCI2050B functionality

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCI2050B

I am going to use PCI2050B in a PowerPC board where PPC will be master and its PCI controller  will be connected to PCI2050B. Externally I will be using 4 CPCI cards which will be PCI targets only (Will be implemented in fpga). Secondary side of PCI2050B will be connected to CPCI connector. Since it is a single master environment, what to do with REQ# and GNT# signals on secondary side? can i pull it to vcc?

Primary side REQ# and GNT# to be connected to PPC PCI_REq and GNT, right?

How many cpci board can be addressed using single PCI2050B per S_clkout clock?

  • Basil,

If the downstream devices will never master the bus (they are target only), then the REQ# and GNT# pins do not need to be connected to it. As for these unused pins, GNT# is an output from us so it can be left floating. REQ# is an input, so it will need to be pulled to VCC.

Yes, primary REQ and GNT are connected to PCI_REQ and PCI_GNT.
