TPS2546: Wake on USB fail

Part Number: TPS2546

Hi,

System USB port connected wake device(wireless KB/mouse) and had waited for 80 seconds in the S0 before placing system to S3.

Checked CTL1/CTL2/CTL3 setting is 011(DCP_Auto mode) while system in S3, but failed to wake system from S3.

Please help on this issue.

Best regards,

Randy Chen

  • Randy,

Is the wireless KB/MOUSE a low speed or full speed device? The wakeup behavior will be different and I need to know which to be helpful.

Does the customer have any way to monitor the /STATUS line on the TPS2546?

    Regards,
    Chuck
  • Hi Chuck,

Customer used the wake device is Full speed in the test.

    Mouse: Logitech G90 (FS)

Wireless KB/Mouse: Logitech MK240 NANO (FS)

Customer is wondering any connection with /STATUS for keyboard/mouse wake up feature? The table 2 in the datasheet showed the other 2 settings 0110(DCP-auto) and 0101(SDP1) are without load detection but supports keyboard/mouse wake up.

Also, customer tested the SDP1 setting 110 in the S3 but still wake up fail. Is the keyboard/mouse wake up only support the SDP1 setting 010? Even 110 is still SDP1 and data lines connected but not support keyboard/mouse wake up feature?

    Best regards,

    Randy Chen

  • Randy,

Here is the relevant section of the specification.

The DSP1 to DCP-Auto transition is specifically called out as not supported.

The two transitions that are supported for wakeup are:

    1. 111 (CDP/SDP2) to 011 (DCP-Auto)

    2. 010 (SDP1) to 011 (DCP-Auto)

  • Hi Chuck,
This Wistron EE Angus. May I confirm wake on USB support only on 111 (CDP/SDP2) to 011 (DCP-Auto) condition?
Because we have another project can wake up while AOU disable by Bios menu and S0 (110 SDP1) to S3 (110 SDP1).

I have another question, if our EC setting AOU mode correct for AOU support wake on USB condition,
which to do wake system behavior? AOU C2546 or Bios?
  • The 111 (CDP//SDP2) to 011 (DCP-Auto) is a supported wakeup. It is only the 110 (SDP1) to 011(DCP-Auto) that is not supported.

From what you have described, your system should function correctly.
  • Randy,

Do you know what the load being presented by the mouse/keyboard is? If it is too small, then there might be an issue with the wakeup.
