DS90UB954-Q1: 953 954

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB953-Q1, DS90UB913A-Q1, DS90UB933-Q1, DS90UB913Q-Q1

I have 953 and 954 modules with sensor output RAW 12.  If want to convert to different format, what do I need to do on the 954 (using CSI mode)?

Using Qualcomm qcar app, I see only half of screen. Half is camera image (fuzzy lines) and other half is green screen.

  • Shih,
UB953/954 is one pair SerDes designed for physical layer, and has no video color format converter function.
For your case, I would suggest you try:
    1. can change the UB953 video input format from the sensor?
    2. check the Qualcom's processor's setting, which can tolerate diff. video input formats. This setting is same as the sensor video output setting?
    3. you can use UB953 or UB954 internal pattern gen. (with diff. video format) to verify the link debug.

  • There is doc that describes backwards compatibility with 953 - DS90UB953-Q1 Backwards Compatibility Modes for Operation With Parallel Output Deserializers. It mentions backward compatibility but need to pair 953 with 964. Is there a different document?

Also what is difference between DS90UB933-Q1/ DS90UB913A-Q1 serializer vs DS90UB931AQ/ 913Q/ 933Q serializers?
What is Q1 vs Q? Is it just different packaging? How different is 913 vs 933?
  • Hello-

The DS90UB913Q-Q1 is an improved version of the DS90UB913A-Q1. The DS90UB933-Q1 is a next generation version of the DS90UB913A-Q1.

There are some differences in supported operating frequency ranges. See the respective datasheets for more info. The overall signal quality and jitter tolerance performance has improved when going from DS90UB913Q-Q1, to DS90UB913A-Q1, to DS90UB933-Q1.
