TPS25221: TPS25221 Built-in Soft-Start

Part Number: TPS25221

Hello team,

I would like to confirm Built-in Soft-Start of TPS25221 since it is not showed in the datasheet. Would you please advise?

Question
1. What is the typical soft-start time?
2. Would you please tell me the behavior of Built-in Soft-Start of TPS25221?

Best Regards,
Akihisa Tamazaki

  • Hi, Akihisa Tamazaki,

I need to confirm this with designers. I will reply you next Monday.

  • Hi, Akihisa Tamazaki,

The soft start behavior is that when you EN/Power on the part, the charging current for power FET's Gate is small at the beginning. So the power FET will start slowly. This way, the Vout and Iout will rise smoothly too.

Below is the description in datasheet: The driver incorporates circuitry that controls the rise and fall times of the output voltage to limit large current and voltage surges and provides built-in soft-start functionality.

We don't have soft start time definition in datasheet, you can use rise and fall times for reference.

    Regards,
    Bob
  • Bob-san,

    Thank you for your support.
I understand it and use rise and fall time.
