DS90UB949-Q1: Compatibility to Camera Deserializer and Power Over Coax

Part Number: DS90UB949-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB954-Q1,

Hi,

I'm looking towards an application, where I have to source an test image for the DS90UB954-Q1, which is listed under Camera SerDes. Nevertheless I assume, that this chip is compatible with the DS90UB949-Q1 due to the same FPD3 Link interface. Am I correct?

Is my understanding correct, that the maximum resolution of 1080p60 of the DS90UB949-Q1 is only archived, when using both FPD3 link connections together? So In my application, where I only have to source one FPD3 Link signal for the DS90UB954-Q1, it would not be possible to have it going at 60Hz with the DS90UB949-Q1 Serializer as source?

Concerning the Power over Coax, the DS90UB949-Q1 does not mention anything in its datasheet. Still my application would make use of the PoC due to the DS90UB954-Q1 chip. I don't see the reason for the DS90UB949-Q1 to not support the PoC, since I've to filter it prior the chip anyway. Am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance :)

  • Hello,
The DS90UB954 is an ADAS FPD-Link device and they are not designed to be compatible with the Infotainment FPD-Link devices such as DS90UB949. The FPD-Link frame structure is different between ADAS and Infotainment, so the 954 is designed to work with 953 or one of the earlier ADAS serializers such as 933 or 913A.
The PoC support is available on the 95x devices (refer to the datasheet and EVM user guide). You can refer to these other threads for information about POC on IVI devices.
