DP83630: Auto-negotiation and Auto-MDIX

Part Number: DP83630

Hi Team,

Although "AUTO-CROSSOVER" and "AUTO-MDIX" have similar functions, do not use AUTO-MDIX with FORCED MODE?

Why is "AUTO-CROSSOVER" available? Is there a special reason?

Best Regards,

Kenji

  • Hi Kenji,

I was mistaken in my previous post in regards to Auto-MDIX for forced modes with the DP83630.
For this device, you do need to use the Auto-Crossover mode instead of Auto-MDIX.
There is a dependency for the DP83630 with Auto-MDIX and Auto-Negotiation.
  • Hi Ross-san,

    Thank you for confirmation.
I understand that "AUTO-CROSSOVER" must be used instead of "AUTO-MDIX" when "AUTO-Nego" is invalid.

My customers would like to know the correct procedure to operate in fixed mode of 100 Mbps, full duplex, AUTO - CROSSOVER.
What is the correct register setting order?

    Best Regards,
    Kenji
  • Hi Kenji,

    Please set register 0x0 to 0x2100. //forced 100Mbps Full-Duplex, Disable Auto-Negotiation
    Please set bit[15] in register 0x19 to 0b0. //Disable Auto-MDIX
    Please set bit[15] in register 0x16 to 0b1. //Enable Auto-Crossover
