DP83620: Hardware design support

Hello,

I need support in the Hardware design part of DP83620.

This IC provides a common output TX+/- and RX+/- for both Copper and Fibre mode and there are some strapping options to configure the IC in either modes.

My application requires both these modes to be designed on the PCB and should be field configurable. Now based on the evaluation kit it contains a set of 0 ohms resistor which can be stuffed or removed to use either of Copper or fiber mode however this cannot be done in the fields once the product is designed.

One way is using a Jumper or switch to achieve this where I am skeptical about the performance since this is a high speed part they signals are bound to get disturbed with these solution.

Kindly provide a suitable support.

    There are many different options for switches.

    Hi Chitransh,

    There are MUXes designed to support Ethernet that could do the role you are asking. For example, TI makes a gigabit capable MUX. It may have more channels than you need, but this would be better than jumpers in the field, and could be controlled by a technician or automatically by the system if needed.

    The recommended part is something like: TS3L501E

    Hello Rob,

    I am also interested in getting the End of Life(EOL) for this part.
    Currently TI's website says its "ACTIVE" , could you tell me what could be EOL for this part.

    Also, is there a tool or software from TI to get these EOL details for other parts ?

    Hi Chitransh,

    Here is our EOL Policy:

    TI makes an effort to not obsolete products out of convenience. Convenience means a low running device, poor yields, limited customer adoption or similar items. TI’s obsolescence withdrawal schedule provides a longer lead time than the industry standard. TI allows 12 months for the last order and an additional six months to take final delivery of obsolete items.

    In rare circumstances, an accelerated withdrawal schedule may be necessary. In such cases, TI will communicate the last buy and final delivery dates in the end of life (EOL) notice, along with an explanation of the circumstances necessitating the early withdrawal.

    Additionally, we have other products besides the one that my colleague recommended if you have concern about EOL.
