I would like to communicate to a TMS320F28035 via the SCITXDA and SCIRXDA pins which are connected to the tusb1105 VPO/VO and RCV pins.  What course of action do I need to take to communicate to the microcontroller from a PC.  Simply plugging a USB port from the PC to the D- D+ of the tusb1105 does not work (no vendor/ device id).  An alternative would be to, somehow, convert the tusb1105 to rs232 and communicate that way.  I am looking for the simplest solution without the need for custom programming and limited additional components.

    Dustin,

    The TUSB1105 is a USB transceiver or PHYsical layer.  It is purely the analog electrical signalling portion of a USB device.  It can only be used in conjunction with MCUs/application processors that have the digital USB core integrated on chip - which the F28035 does not have.  Therefore there is no way to use the TUSB1105 and the F28035 together to enable USB connection to a PC.  The TUSB1105 can not be used for RS-232 either.

    A solution would be to use the TUSB3410 as indicated in this app note.

    If straight RS-232 is adequate, you could use one of the TI's RS-232 Transceivers.  Since you are only using the data lines - none of the modem controls, I would look at the  TRS3221E, TRSF3221E or TRS3227E.

    My problem is that the only available communication interface to the F28035 that I have is through a connector that has the D+ / D- lines of the  TUSB1105 (which is connected to the F28035 as specified above). I am in need to communicating to the F28035 (RS232 or USB) through this connector to a PC.  The question is... do I use another TUSB1105 interfaced to a RS-232 transceiver and then to the PC or is there a more simple approach?
