TPS65982: PD power role switching

Hi,

I need to switch PD role from source to sink and back with TPS65982 chip. PD chip is controlled by MCU via I2C bus. By default, my device is a source and provide power to MBP. After some period of time, I need to switch device to sink and start to get power back. But I'm not able to switch PD chip in sink mode. When I send SWSk command no matter from Application Customization tool or via I2C bus connection with MBP drops and when new negotiation finish, it still acts as a source.

Could you point me what PD chip settings should be for my use case?

Hi Alexander,

It is important to check that both devices will support a power role swap to your intended role. You can check this behavior in the Control Configuration (0x29) register of the TPS65982. Do you also have a PD Analyzer? If you take a trace of the PD communication during the failure, it will indicate to you why it is failing.

Hi Eric,

Unfortunately, I don't have PD Analyzer.
How I can check it with 0x29 register?

You can use the TPS6598x Application Customization Tool to configure each of the registers and to create a flash image for your board. You can download the tool here:
