TMDS181: Wake On HDMI?

Part Number: TMDS181

Dear Team,

our customer would like to implement a functionality that allows the system to wake up when a HDMI signal is coming in.

Goal is to let the system be in a standby mode (<0.5W power consumption) and as soon as an active video signal is applied, somehow an interrupt should be generated.

The TMDS181 has an Input Signal Detect Block which is enabled via pin / I2C. But can we also use this block to generate a wake-up interrupt - independent of the FPGA of the system?

Looking forward to your feedback.

Best Regards
Martin

  • Hi Martin,

We don't have any signal that we can use as an interrupt output on the TMDS181 device.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the reply, the easiest would be an output pin.
But is there some register that we can use for this? I noticed in the block diagram that there is a signal SIG_DET_OUT, this would be the signal we need for our low power. So is it correct that the signal is a internal signal only and so not available in the register interface?

    Regards,
    Pieter
  • Hi Pieter,

The SIG_EN pin enables the TMDS181 to enter low power mode when no signal is detected. There is no SIG_DET_OUT signal routed outside the device, that is an internal signal sued to disable / enable the low power mode.
