UCC5310: UCC5310M Miller Clamp Time Request

Part Number: UCC5310

Hello TI,

Could you help us to provide Miller clamp sequence chart and  time of UCC5310M CLAMP/OUT pin? thanks!

  • Hello John,

This clamp time is not a datasheet spec and I will work on determining it for you.

In the meantime, during turn-off, if the gate rises above the clamp threshold (~2V), the UCC5310M will activate an NFET and pull the gate to VEE2 to discharge the voltage at the gate.

    regards,
    Mateo
  • Hi Mateo,

    Whit for you update information.

    Thanks!

  • Hello John, we are still working on this and will get back to you on Monday.

  • Hello John,

Typically, the UCC53x0M needs 40ns to detect the Vclp threshold and to activate the miller clamp.

The time is takes to fully discharge the gate is dependent on the load capacitance and gate resistance.

In the bench screenshot below, a large gate resistor and a 1-nF load cap were used to demonstrate the miller clamp on the falling edge.

The R-C combination slows down the falling edge until it reaches the clamp threshold and the miller clamp activates and discharges the circuit at a faster rate.

See below: It takes 50-ns to discharge the 1-nF capacitor from the threshold to a lower potential.
