Hello TI, how can we personalize your TI TUSB3410 - Driver for Windows 10 to have our company information such as VendorID and ProductID ? In previous TI TUSB3410 it had an ".INF" file the driver's information could be modified. Can this be done to the TI TUSB3410 - Driver for Windows 10 ??

I don't see a reason why you couldn't modify the INF file for your needs. Let us know if you are seeing an issue?

Hi Brian, for the windows 10 version of TI TUSB3410, I do not see an INF file. Where can I find a version with the INF File?

I have only found this version for windows 10 but it only has an executable.

Hi Orlando,
When you run the exe, all files are extracted to C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\TUSB3410 Driver\. Are you not seeing them?

I see the INF file after I run the exe in the directory above. However, I had to run the exe first to modify the INF. Is there a way to modify the INF file from the beginning so that whenever this exe runs on another user computer, they do not have to do anything and it would already configured?

For example lets say I run the exe and the INF file is created during extraction. I would modify the INF file to our settings/configuration. Lets say, I would like to distribute this driver now to other departments in our company with our settings, would I have to manually edit the INF for every machine ?

Sounds like you are wanting a custom installer with your custom INF? Is there a reason why you cannot use the standard VID/PID for the TUSB3410 so a custom INF is not required?

When our company created that product line 8+ years ago we decided that we wanted it to have our company VID and PID so there was no confusion with customers that they were connecting to our product. By that, in the device manager it would show our company name and not TI. We have programmed this VID and PID into the TIUSB3410’s PROM that we’ve shipped on all our products since release. We had modified the INF on the old driver to match. In retrospect we wish we hadn’t done this but we have 1000s of units in the field that the driver has to communicate to. So, we need a Win 10 digitally signed driver that can talk to the VID and PID of our HW in the field. Windows 10 will only allow drivers that are digitally signed to be installed unless that enforcement is disabled. As such, many company see this as a security issue and do not want to do this.

Understood. We typically do not create custom installers, but if you are okay with the way our installer looks and works, send me your modified INF and I'll see what I can do. Is the driver currently posted on ti.com working fine with Win10 (assuming you manually modify the INF)?

Hi Brian, lets say you are able to create the custom installer for us. Would that new driver still need to be digitally signed via Microsoft portal ?

The driver was already signed so I am only going to update the INF.

Also I see we commented out this code, but it's uncommented in your INF. How would you like it?

Probably at least down to Win7. I'm doubting XP would work. We haven't been supporting that in some time so you'd have to try it yourself.

We would kindly like the following:

1. Driver date and version. This is the same DriverVer as the original TI driver for Win 10:

DriverVer=09/07/2016,6.7.4.0

2. Comment out the entire "Class Installer" section

In general, we want to stay as close as possible the original TI installer. Thank you for looking into this.

It was written by a 3rd party. I tried to look at the code and see they are using IOCTL_INTERNAL_USB_SUBMIT_URB so I would say it's a kernel mode driver.
