TUSB320: TUSB320, TUSB320-LA, TUSB320-HA

Part Number: TUSB320

Hello: I am a new E.E. quite new to touch Type-C USB design, what I try to do is first to have EVM of TUSB320 to figure it out. But I have found that there are TUSB320-EVM, TUSB320-LA-EVM and TUSB320-HA-EVM. I am confused that what is the difference between them. You quick answers are appreciated.

  • Hi Yiping,

Yes, the TUSB320-EVM, TUSB320-LA-EVM and TUSB320-HA-EVM. are very similiar, but are poluated with either the TUSB320, TUSB320LA or TUSB320HA.

The TUSB320 is available in two versions of enable: Active low enable called TUSB320LA and active high enable called TUSB320HA.

There are also a few differences between the TUSB320 vs the TUSB320HA/LA:

TUSB320 has higher Iq, does not support Try.SRC or Try.SNK.  It also does not have dead battery support.  Let me know if I can help with anything.  Thanks!

  • Thanks, BTY, I have another Q about the application of this TUSB320. On the page 4 of the its datasheet, pin description of "EN_N" states that "If controlled externally, must be held at least for 50ms after VDD has reached its valid voltage level. How it accomplished in circuits, because when I looked at Figure 10 on page 21 of the datasheet, both ADDR and EN_N pins are bounded with GND. It also states at button of the same page " The TUSB320 device can enter shutdown mode by pulling the EN_N pin high, which puts the TUSB320 device into a low power state. In this case, external control of the EN_N pin is not implemented and therefore the EN_N pin is tied to GND"

Of cause I can have a pin from MCU to connect to this EN_N pin, but how to explain above statement and the schematic  Figure 10 on page 21?

Again, thank you for your prompted answer and the excellent services.
