TPS25810: Turn off USB Power

Part Number: TPS25810

Dear Team,

My customer have some special request, they ask to disable all USB Power at some condition,even device attached; So we have two idea to achieve this:

1, Change the Power source of IN1, the power source can be shut down;

2, Control the TPS25810 EN to shut down the IC power delivery.

We want know if any side effect of this two idea, such as Power leakage or IC power sequence request.etc.

Please help to advice.

  • Hi Jim,

    The expert for this device is currently out of the office. I will make sure he looks at your thread when he returns. In the mean time, I think your method 2 would work best as there could still be current drawn from IN2 with method 1. Method 2 should disable the IC without having to remove the power.

  • Hi Eric,

    About Method 1, how about use IN1,IN2 to same power rail?

    If we IN1,IN2 use the same power, can it avoid the risk you mention?

  • Hi Jim,

    So you will completely remove power from the device? If that is the case, there would be no potential for leakage since there is no power going to the device. However, I would suggest double checking this behavior on an EVM to ensure it is as expected.
