TPS2549: Impedance of DP_IN and DM_IN in DCP mode

Part Number: TPS2549

Hello team,

Hope you are doing well. Please see below customer question:

In DCP mode, the datasheet states the parameters below for the impedance of DP_IN and DM_IN.  What is the minimum impedance that is necessary for proper operation?  I know that there is no communication on these lines but how critical is the impedance?  Normally we route diff pair at 90 ohms with a 10% tolerance.

  • Randhir,

The impedance matching for the DP_IN and DM_IN for DCP mode is not a very tight requirement. As long as you are able to meet the DC level requirements from the datasheet in your system, the part will function correctly.

I do recommend that you meet the 90 ohms +/-10% to give as much margin as possible.

How much flexibility do you need?
